Sierra Leone: Corruption Allegations Undermine Trust in Police

Freetown, Sierra Leone, September 2008 – Despite efforts to reform Sierra Leone’s security services, public trust in the police still tends to be low. One cause of concern is alleged corruption by members of the traffic police. Mariama Ghandi of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation in Bo and Ibrahim Mansaray of UNIOSIL in Freetown decided to find out what is going on.
