Sierra Leone: Prizewinning stories focus on assistance for war victims

December 19, 2008 – Salamatu Kemokai of the Independent Radio Network (IRN) has been awarded top prize in our latest reporting competition for her radio report about school support for amputee children. Second prize went to Joseph Turay of Cotton Tree News for a story on the launch of registration for war victims to get reparations. Both Salamatu and Joseph receive a portable computer, installed with digital sound editing software. Runners-up Betty Alimamy Sesay and Umaru Jarr receive a digital Marantz recorder.
